Ad I-II: Only Editions: an exhaustive collection and study of Marian epithets and encomia (I) followed by meditations on the marriage of Christ to his Church (II). The first work is dedicated to the Virgin and the second to her firstborn. Scalaboni quotes from scripture and the Church Fathers, as well as authors both classical (i.a., Cicero) and Renaissance (Petrarch). Each book is thoroughly indexed by subject and biblical citation. An Augustinian Hermit, Scalaboni wrote extensively on theology and devotion and composed vernacular verse in praise of the Virgin. I locate no copy of the first book in American collections and only one of the second (Villanova). In good condition (both a little browned), one duplicate quire bound in the first book, canceled inscription on the second title, bookplate removed from the front pastedown.
