THIS EDITION OF THE BELOVED VERSE FABLE CYCLE CONTAINS THE FIRST APPEARANCE OF THESE CHARMING WOODCUTS by Jost Amman (1539-91). Here nearly all in excellent impressions, the blocks were reused and copied into the 18th century. This is the second printing of the Latin translation by Hartmann Schopper, who prefaced each story with a summary of the action and followed it with extensive prose commentary. In nice condition (light stain in the blank corner of four quires, one natural paper flaw with no loss, one smudge), bookplate of Swiss collector of horse books Henry A. Sarasin (1917-95).
