Solennis Oratio In Celeberrima Tvbingensi Vniversitate Habita, De sacræ Theologi[a]e & legum Imperialium dignitate, differentia, conuenientia, corruptione & restitutione.
Tübingen, [U. Morhart] 1554.
4to (182 x 145 mm.). [iv], [35]p.
Marbled paper wrappers.
First Edition. This provocative oration on the rights of kings attacks, i.a., the Sorbonne and the papacy and proposes consolidation of power in hereditary nobility. An internationally influential Protestant French jurist, Dumoulin fled France, taught at Tübingen and ruffled feathers (the Roman Index of Prohibited Books classed him among the most dangerous authors). I have found one copy in American libraries. Faint narrow dampstain on some leaves, stamps of the Stuttgart Library (withdrawn).
¶Haag, La France protestante V: 791,XV; VD 16 D 2935.
