            First Edition, for those wishing to take up painting on their annual country holiday, an articulated mannequin and prints to hand. A goldsmith and painting restorer, Dutens lays out the basics of human anatomy, osteology and myology. He discusses drawing children, adults, clothing, landscapes, perspective and light and shadow, the placement and arrangement of figures, facial expression, miniatures on vellum and ivory, pastels on paper, oil on canvas and devotes a long section to color and color harmony. He describes the preparation and application of ground, the layering of paint and, briefly, intaglio color printing. In good condition.
