Flush cut in contemporary binder’s boards long-stitched through the spine, manuscript title on the front board.

            Only Edition of this anti-Aristotelian cosmographic poem attempting to demonstrate the universe’s finiteness. It considers perpetual motion, geocentrism, gravity, and human perception of time. The passage on “vacuum” includes an early use of the term spatium to indicate what is past the earth’s sky. Rambaldi dedicated it to Pope Alexander VII (r. 1655-1667). No other copy located outside Italy. In good condition, 19th-century blind armorial stamp and ink stamp with a crowned ag on the title. Not in Piantinida.
