The professional calligrapher executed these bespoke lessons for one Teresa ?Marqués y Jordá. The five leaves on cursive detail shape, size and angle of the letters. Enclosed in decorative penwork frames, the final two leaves present writing samples that integrate minuscules, majuscules, loops, strokes and flourishes to create an attractive page. The title displays even more elaborate styles — broken, outline and checked letters, as well as a more traditional running hand. Espina’s printed legacy is a small format introduction to elegant handwriting (Arte calygráfico...para uso de los niños (c. 1798), not in Bonacini). In good condition.
