EDITIONES PRINCIPES of these fragmentary Greek historical and geographical texts by the great “travel liar” Ctesias, geographer Agatharchides and historian Memnon of Heraclea. They deal with, i.a., elephant hunts, Persia, India, Rome, the Nile, Ethiopians, gold mining in Egypt, the Red Sea and legendary monsters at the edge of the world. Two previously unknown fragments of Appian discovered by Estienne also first appear here, along with thirty pages of his critical notes. In good condition.
