Only Edition: THE FIRST PRINTED TRANSLATION INTO ANY LANGUAGE OF THE COMPLETE WORKS OF SOPHOCLES (c. 496-c. 406. B.C.E.). This is translator G.B. Gabia’s first success. He (d. 1590) subsequently put other Greek writers into Latin, paraphrased the Psalms and rendered the Gregorian Calendar in Greek. Active 1539-1543, Pocatela issued seven books — his well edited and textually correct Greek and Latin classics “imitating the approach of the Manuzio” (Tinazzo, tr.). Cosimo (1519-74) governed Florence and had just turned 24, when this book was published. In excellent condition.
