19th-century violet morocco, gilt-lettered flat spine, all edges gilt.

ADMONITORY CATALOG OF UNRULY CHILDREN, SLUTS, GLUTTONS, party hounds, debtors, servants dining on the best wines and meats…. It spawned Gringore’s Les abus (1509), Desmoulins’ Le cymetière (1511), Adonville’s Les regretz (1529/30), Copeland’s Hye Way to the Spyttle Hous (c. 1536) and Den Rechten Weg nae ’t Gaesthuys (?1550).

 I have traced eight editions, four in single examples. From the libraries of Yemeniz (Catalogue (1867) 1643), Firmin-Didot (Catalogue (1878), 624 “fort rare”), Fairfax Murray (Catalogue p. [xiii]) and Edmée Maus (Inventaire 104). The top margins are short; some lower margins preserve their deckle.
